Australian winger Harry Kewell seems set to stay Anfield after his agent Bernie Mandic dismissed any rumours linking the player with a move to Tottenham.

Mandic said: “There has never been a single word from anyone at Liverpool about Harry leaving,” he told The Independent.

Spurs full-back Lee Young-pyo has rejected a transfer to Serie A side AS Roma to stay in London.

The South Korean star confirmed that the reason behind his decision was a personal one but not related to religion as was earlier reported in the press.

He said: “I changed my mind for personal reasons,”

“I will explain in more detail when I arrive in Korea but it had nothing to do with religion.”

Jermaine Jenas has described the feeling of disappointment he and his team-mates felt when they missed out on a Champions League place last season while also expressing his optimism regarding the current campaign.

Jenas said: “We’ve got a great squad here and we have brought some top players in. With the UEFA Cup this season we are going to need everybody.

“For the players that were here and in that changing room after the West Ham game, it was not a nice feeling.

“The manager tried to pick us up and make us aware of what we had achieved throughout the season but, as players, it was hard to accept.”

The agent of Lee Young-Pyo has confirmed that his client is on his way to Serie A side Roma.

Agent Chin Sung-Won said: ‘Tottenham and AS Roma have agreed in principle to the transfer of Lee Young-Pyo,’

‘We are in talks with Roma on detailed contract terms.’

‘You can consider the deal as almost sealed, as the only remaining procedure is the player’s decision,’

Martin Jol has expressed his delight to have re-signed cult hero Mido to the club on a permanent deal.

Jol told the club’s official website: “We’ve been tracking Mido since his loan ended and we were always keen to bring him back.

“Roma took some persuading and I’m delighted to have him in the squad.

“He knows I like him as a player, his strength in the air and his mentality. It’s an excellent addition to the squad and our striking options are now complete.”

Mido added: “I’m very happy to be back. It was and it always will be a great honour for me to play for Tottenham.

“I always knew in my heart I would be coming back. It is a fantastic move for me, I have some good friends here and it will be good to be back with the lads. I saw them training today and I’m looking forward to working with Martin and Chris again.

“I can’t wait to pull on a Tottenham shirt, to play at the Lane and score some goals.”

Star defender Ledley King is on target to return for the next Premiership fixture against Manchester United.

“Yes, I think I’m on target for that (Manchester United),” King told the club’s official website.

“With the internationals it’s two weeks before the United game so the break has worked out well for me.

“I haven’t missed that many games, just three in the first week, so that’s not too bad.

“I can’t wait to get back out there first in full training and then the games.”

Reports are today suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur have tabled and improved bid for versatile Real Madrid star Julio Baptista.

Spurs have apparently bid close to £14 million for the former Sevilla star who has been a target of North London rivals Arsenal for the past 2 years.

Michael Dawson has talked of his disappointment that the team is feeling following 2-0 loss to ten-man Everton at White Hart Lane.

Dawson said: “Everton went down to 10 men early on but we couldn’t break them down and they played very well though so credit to them as well,”

“It’s so disappointing and we’re all down in the dumps again a week after we felt the same way at Bolton.

“No-one likes to lose at home here, it doesn’t happen to us many times at the Lane and to lose one so early in the season…what can I say? We’re all gutted.

“We’re disappointed for the fans. They are amazing week in, week out and we appreciate the miles they put in to follow us and the support they give us. We need that. It’s up to us as well to put in the performances.

“We have to work on a few things, re-group and stick together as a team, that’s the important thing.”

Martin Jol has expressed his disappointment following the 0-2 defeat against 10-man Everton at White Hart Lane.

He said: “I thought today after the sending off it would be our day, but it is very disappointing especially after going down 1-0,”

“All credit to them they tried to outfight us and they got a lot of confidence from 1-0 and you have to play your football but we never did.

“If you play against ten men it is easy to pressure, but even that we didn’t do today - but we have a couple of new players in and you have to learn quickly in England.

“Today was difficult because we could not play to our strengths and a few players looked a bit tired.

“I still think we could have had a win, if we didn’t concede but when you concede against ten-men it is always difficult.”

Middlesbrough want to sign Aaron Lennon.

Boro executive Keith Lamb said: “[Chairman] Steve Gibson and I are appalled at the way Tottenham conduct their business,”

“We are shocked and disappointed that they should talk publicly about their interest in one of our players.

“They have not made a £10 million offer for Stewart, and would be wasting their time if they did.

“In actual fact, they made a derisory offer.

“I won’t even be responding to the bid because they knew in advance that it would be unacceptable.

“We can only consider that it was a mischievous attempt to unsettle Stewart and cause a problem between the player and his hometown club.

“If that is the case, it won’t succeed, and we won’t be giving their offer even the courtesy of a rejection.

“We would be more interested in buying Aaron Lennon from Spurs than selling Stewart because we remain extremely ambitious to take this club forward.

“In fact, during the course of our talks with Spurs, we have already expressed our interest in signing Lennon.”
