Marty Jol has confirmed that we have tabled a bid for Middlesbrough star Stewart Downing.

He said: “Stewart Downing that is somebody we would like to have in our squad and he would be a very good player for us and would give us something extra on the left,”

“We have put a very good offer in, our highest offer and hopefully they will accept and if not it would be a pity.

“We need a settled team and then you can work on the strength of the squad, if you put in a bid for a left wing player everyone realises where we are trying to get someone.”
