Things can only get better

Well what can I say. Have been out of town for about six weeks and didn’t get a chance to put anything up, and to tell you the truth I really couldn’t get the motivation to do so.
It has been a pretty ordinary start to 2007, with our loss in the Carling Cup (Will not reference this match ever AGAIN) and our indifferent league form leaving us without a hope of surpassing last season’s heroics.
We have released/sold:
Calum Davenport to West Ham
Marton Fulop completed his expected move to Sunderland
Edgar ‘The Pit-bull’ Davids to Ajax – I loved Edgar. I reckon his fiery attitude and vast experience was a major catalyst to our success last season. Even though he didn’t play every match, his presence was a major boost for the youngster at our club.
We loaned out:
Reto Ziegler to Sampdoria – I want to see more of this lad. I think he has potential to succeed but Marty keeps loaning him out. Will hopefully get a decent run in the side to see what he has to offer.
Mark Yeates to Leicester City – signed a new deal with the club recently. Does show promise but with our first team attackers don’t think he will get much of a look in.
We bought:
Ricardo Rocha from Benfica – Seen this lad in the Champions League for Benfica and could be a great signing for us.
Ben Alnwick from Sunderland – Deal was completed as part of the Fulop move to Sunderland. Has played for the England under 21’s and has impressed on his first team outings for the Black Cats.
Adel Taarabt from Lens – Finally signed this lad (Even though it is on loan should be become permanent). Marty Jol had his eye on him for a while and he couldn’t wait to leave Lens. Has already impressed in the reserves.
Overall I thought we would sign another one or two players during the window but I’m glad we didn’t lose any major players like Mido. So I can’t really complain.
What I can complain about is terrible 11th place we hold on the Premiership table and cannot wait for the match at Everton next week.
We have Fulham away in the FA cup before that so lets hope the next time we see the lads at The Lane against Bolton, we are back in the top half of the Premiership and through to the next round of the Cup.
PS Sorry for the delay between posts this time. Will try and keep them coming.
