Dimitar Berbatov

Berba is happy to stay with us according to boss Martin Jol.

“Berbatov is very happy at our club,” said Jol.

“I had a word with him yesterday and he said he is so happy here.

“The crowd and the supporters are always positive and he said ‘what more do I want?’

“I said ‘yeah’ because I’m always happy when my players are happy.”

CMON Lets hold onto to our stars, add another few and push on.

JJ thinks Dimitar Berbatov is priceless. SO DO I. STAY AWAY FERGUSON.

“We don’t want Berbatov to go anywhere,” he said.

“We are a club that’s about building and pushing forward and if we want to keep doing that we have to keep Dimitar and I’m sure the club will do that.

“I think he’s priceless after the way he’s performed for the club this season. I think it will be tougher for him next year, but it was a great acquisition last summer.”

He added: “He’s on fire at the moment. He puts in the work at the training ground and gets the rewards.

“His brilliance on the ball is nice to watch and he does things that defenders don’t expect. That’s what makes him so special.”

On his own good form Jenas added: “I definitely feel like I am coming into my best form at the end of the season. It’s good timing with the England games coming up.

“I have had a very up and down season because of injuries, but I have managed to come back in good form and score some goals. I was happy with my performance and happy for the team.

“It was hard to be left out of the last England squad but I understood it because I’d been picking up niggly injuries here and there. I spoke to the manager and he made me aware that I am more than involved.”

He added: “I know the next game is against Brazil at Wembley and I’d love to be involved,”

“It’s going to be a fantastic occasion.”

Another solid win in Europe to put us into the next phase as group winners.

Must say our strike force is looking good, but I was a little suprised Martin didnt rest either Berbatov or Defoe once we were in control. Dimitar has been on fire and would have hated for him to get a silly injury towards the end (Touch wood, touch anything).

Mido made a welcome return to the bench but one wonders if he is 100% otherwise he could have got at least ten - twenty minutes.

Overall I’m a happy man. Two on the trot in the Premiership (including that sublime effort against Charlton) and now group winnners.

Let see who we draw in the next phase of the UEFA but for now bring on Man City. Let’s get the three points on our travels this weekend.

Turkish international Yildiray Basturk is keen to join Spurs from his current club Hertha Berlin.

Basturk said: “At 28 years of age it could be time to seek a fresh challenge elsewhere. I’ve always thought about playing abroad and the Premiership could certainly be interesting.”

Basturk, who was with star Dimitar Berbatov at Bayer Leverkusen is believed to be one of our targets for January.

Dimitar Berbatov thinks we cannot pronounce his name and this is why we do not sing his name. As you can see I don’t stop talking about the lad. He is a special talent.

Berbatov said: “It’s probably because my name is too difficult for them to fit into a song.

“I’m only interested in pleasing the fans. If they like what I do then that is good. It would be nice to hear them sing my name but I appreciate it is not easy.

“I am not that bothered if they don’t come up with one, just as long as I am working hard for the team, we are winning and the fans are happy is all that concerns me.

“Even when I played for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, the fans did not have a song for me.”

BERBATOV WE LOVE YOU

Lets make a song for the man….

Super striker Dimitar Berbatov is relishing the opportunity to take on THE SCUM this weekend.

“It’s a big game and is the first for me against them. It’s the biggest derby but playing in a hostile atmosphere will hold no fear for me. ” said Berbatov

“I like playing in a hostile atmosphere and, hopefully, we’ll win and I can score the goals.”

He said: “If we play like we did in the second half against Wigan we can achieve big things,”

“Before we started we were 13th in the league and that isn’t good enough for us. We have to be at the top and we will try to do that.”

Here are the Wigan highlights. What a performance… The man is brillant.

Martin Jol has quickly dismissed suggestions that his preferred strike partnership is Jermain Defoe and Dimitar Berbatov following their good link up in the 3-1 victory over Wigan on the weekend.

He said: “They did well but we don’t have a best partnership. We saw Robbie Keane against Leverkusen and Besiktas and against Chelsea in our best match of the season,”

On the performance against Wigan he added: “It’s always nice to have a win after a Thursday game - I thought we were terrific,”

Dimitar Berbatov was again on target in the UEFA Cup, this time against his former club Bayer Leverkusen.

The goal gave us a 1-0 win and saw us qualify for the next round of the competition.

I must say I am amazed that Berbatov is struggling to find his feet in the Premiership with his undoubted class but his European form keeps us smiling.

Boss Martin Jol was not that happy with the performance but was happy with the win.

He said: “When you have several chances and more situations where all we needed was a good final ball it is a disappointment.

“If Leverkusen had scored it would have been a disaster.

“We played as a team and played a bit better than them but you have to convert possibilities into goals.”

Bulgarian forward Dimitar Berbatov has admitted feeling ’sick’ when he first heard that Tottenham would be facing his old club Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Cup.

Speaking ahead of the clash between the two sides, Berbatov said: “I was sick,”

“If I do score it will be strange but I’m a professional player and it doesn’t matter if they are my friends. Like usual, you raise your hands to show you have scored.

“I was happy that I was there and now I have a lot of other things to do, the game tomorrow and the games in the future with Tottenham.”

“I’m really happy to be back here (In Leverkusen) but I have a job to do - during the 90 minutes there are no friends.”
