Michael Dawson

We are being heavily linked with both Birmingham City’s Mathew Upson and West Brom’s Curtis Davies for the upcoming transfer window.

Now although I think we are fine in that area (Centre half), if we to make a move who would you prefer?

I know Davies is a very talented young lad and has already skippered the Baggies and he is only 21 but I think Upson is more established in the Premiership (Plus nine caps for England) and besides the MAJOR FACT THAT HE USED TO PLAY FOR THE GOONER SCUM should be a good acquisition.

Both seem to have potential to improve our squad but I want to know why we are searching for centre half. Marty says so it will allow him to play Ledley in more advanced role but I think (and I know everyone will agree) that Tommy Huddlestone is doing an amazing job in the heart of the midfield. The kid has something special. I know I might be jumping the gun but I honestly believe he is in a similar mould to the Gerrard’s and the Lampard’s of this world.

Anyway lets see what Marty does, I won’t doubt him. Keep up the good work…

But……………… please sign another flanker and never drop Huddlestone. ;)

Tottenham defender Michael Dawson says the club must aim for a Champions League this season.

He said: “I think we have got to be realistic and make sure we are in the Uefa Cup spot again,”

“It would be nice to go one better and make it into the Champions League, but there are a lot of good teams out there and we know it is going to be a tough test.”

“We have maybe not scored as many goals as we would have liked, but with the strikers we have got we will always score goals,” added Dawson.

“It was nice to get two last week and hopefully they will start flooding in now.”

Spurs defender Michael Dawson is confident his team can recover from the slow start they have made to make an impact on the Premiership again this season.

“The problem at the moment is getting the ball in the back of the net, but we’re keeping clean sheets and if we stick together we’ll hopefully get a win,” said Dawson.

“We believe a win will come. It’s only a problem if we’re not creating chances, but we do create them and I’m sure we’ll get a few goals.

“Once we get the first win, more will follow. Last year we had a great start, but this year it hasn’t been the case. “But there’s a long way to go until the end of the season and a lot of points to play for, so hopefully we can start picking them up.

“The Premiership is our bread and butter and we had such a good season last year that we want to do it again.” Midfielder

Michael Dawson has talked of his disappointment that the team is feeling following 2-0 loss to ten-man Everton at White Hart Lane.

Dawson said: “Everton went down to 10 men early on but we couldn’t break them down and they played very well though so credit to them as well,”

“It’s so disappointing and we’re all down in the dumps again a week after we felt the same way at Bolton.

“No-one likes to lose at home here, it doesn’t happen to us many times at the Lane and to lose one so early in the season…what can I say? We’re all gutted.

“We’re disappointed for the fans. They are amazing week in, week out and we appreciate the miles they put in to follow us and the support they give us. We need that. It’s up to us as well to put in the performances.

“We have to work on a few things, re-group and stick together as a team, that’s the important thing.”
