Another solid win in Europe to put us into the next phase as group winners.

Must say our strike force is looking good but I was suprised Martin didnt rest either Berbatov or Defoe once we were in control. Dimitar has been on fire and would have hated for him to get a sill y injury towards the end (Touch wood, touch anything).

Mido made a welcome return to the bench but one wonders if he is 100% otherwise he could have got at least ten - twenty minutes.

Overall I’m a happy man two on the trot in the Premiership (including that sublime effort against Charlton) and now group winnners.

Let see who we draw in the next phase but for now bring on Man City. Let’s get the three points on our travels this weekend.

Boss Martin Jol was happy with our return to the winners circle against Middlesbrough following our shocking loss last weekend.

“If you win a game after a defeat like that (3-0 to Arsenal) it is exactly what you have to do,” said Jol.

“They came for a point, we showed the fans we wanted to work hard but we did not do that against Arsenal.

“The only thing we could do was have a good performance and win because we wanted to be in the top half of the table and we have six home games in the next eight.

“We gave everyone a good answer.”

Pascal Chimbonda is still confident we will finish in the top six. I agree with him. If we can sort out away form soon we will be up there.

“Even though we are struggling away, we can still finish in the top-six,” said Chimbonda.

“We have a lot of games left in the season.”

Lads lets just forget that terrible terrible fixture against the SCUM last weekend and push on…

Wing-back Lee Young Pio is still being linked with a move to Serie side Roma.

Lee, 29, was close to completing a move to the Stadio Olympico over the summer but decided against it for religious reasons.

Another move by the Giallorossi in January might tempt the Korean international as he has been struggling to get a starting spot in the Spurs team this season.

Reports suggest we are looking to land long term target Curtis Davies in January.

Marty Jol has previously admitted his admiration for the West Brom man and Baggies manager Tony Mowbray has recently said: ”We are trying to put the building blocks in place for the long-term success.

“If we are going to lose a star player then while it is difficult, if the team benefits longer term, that is what is important.”

Who knows?? I think we are right at the back, but he is another talented young lad to join the rest.

We are apparently set to sign Lens youngster Adel Taarabt after he rejected a professional contract with Lens.

“I’ve been to visit White Hart Lane and I can’t wait to be playing there,” said Taarabt.

“I’ve had discussions with the coach Martin Jol and he is incredibly keen to sign me.”

Reports are today suggesting that Craig Bellamy could be involved in a swap deal involving Jermaine Defoe in January.

Defoe has been linked to every club in the Premiership for the last two years and although I know Bellamy has the potential to fire in the Premiership, I think we would be much better off holding on to Jermaine if we can.

Turkish international Yildiray Basturk is keen to join Spurs from his current club Hertha Berlin.

Basturk said: “At 28 years of age it could be time to seek a fresh challenge elsewhere. I’ve always thought about playing abroad and the Premiership could certainly be interesting.”

Basturk, who was with star Dimitar Berbatov at Bayer Leverkusen is believed to be one of our targets for January.

Paul Robinson says we should not get carried away with our encouraging cup runs and focus on getting back up that league table.

He said: “Our league form has been indifferent. We want to start picking up points and climb the table.

“We’re not a million miles away — we’re almost there — without stringing the few wins together to get up the table.

“You can’t rely on a cup run. There are three to be won but, if we don’t manage it, we’ve got to make sure we are back in Europe through the league.”

Dimitar Berbatov thinks we cannot pronounce his name and this is why we do not sing his name. As you can see I don’t stop talking about the lad. He is a special talent.

Berbatov said: “It’s probably because my name is too difficult for them to fit into a song.

“I’m only interested in pleasing the fans. If they like what I do then that is good. It would be nice to hear them sing my name but I appreciate it is not easy.

“I am not that bothered if they don’t come up with one, just as long as I am working hard for the team, we are winning and the fans are happy is all that concerns me.

“Even when I played for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, the fans did not have a song for me.”

BERBATOV WE LOVE YOU

Lets make a song for the man….
