Fulham manager Chris Coleman has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur could have signed winger Luis Boa Morte during the off season if they tabled a £5 million for the player.
Coleman said: “Boa was about £5 million away from joining Tottenham in the summer. What they offered was nowhere near what we valued him at,”
“We had no chance of replacing him for the fee they offered and the longer all the talk went on the price went up.
“Boa is linked to a move away from the club every time there is a transfer window. People are saying he is going to Tottenham or he is going to Newcastle.
“He came back from the World Cup where he did not have a lot of rest, then there was all the hoo-ha about whether he was leaving or not in the August window.
“That made things hard for him. He has been chipping away and he will get there sooner rather than later.”

“Charles N’Zogbia will play lots and lots of games, and start lots of games this year for Newcastle.” said Roeder
“We are in four competitions. I think the world of him and he would be one player who certainly would never be for sale as far as I am concerned.
“He has a big future in front of him, but I will protect him.”

Middlesbrough want to sign Aaron Lennon.
Boro executive Keith Lamb said: “[Chairman] Steve Gibson and I are appalled at the way Tottenham conduct their business,”
“We are shocked and disappointed that they should talk publicly about their interest in one of our players.
“They have not made a £10 million offer for Stewart, and would be wasting their time if they did.
“In actual fact, they made a derisory offer.
“I won’t even be responding to the bid because they knew in advance that it would be unacceptable.
“We can only consider that it was a mischievous attempt to unsettle Stewart and cause a problem between the player and his hometown club.
“If that is the case, it won’t succeed, and we won’t be giving their offer even the courtesy of a rejection.
“We would be more interested in buying Aaron Lennon from Spurs than selling Stewart because we remain extremely ambitious to take this club forward.
“In fact, during the course of our talks with Spurs, we have already expressed our interest in signing Lennon.”
