Tom Huddlestone

We are being heavily linked with both Birmingham City’s Mathew Upson and West Brom’s Curtis Davies for the upcoming transfer window.

Now although I think we are fine in that area (Centre half), if we to make a move who would you prefer?

I know Davies is a very talented young lad and has already skippered the Baggies and he is only 21 but I think Upson is more established in the Premiership (Plus nine caps for England) and besides the MAJOR FACT THAT HE USED TO PLAY FOR THE GOONER SCUM should be a good acquisition.

Both seem to have potential to improve our squad but I want to know why we are searching for centre half. Marty says so it will allow him to play Ledley in more advanced role but I think (and I know everyone will agree) that Tommy Huddlestone is doing an amazing job in the heart of the midfield. The kid has something special. I know I might be jumping the gun but I honestly believe he is in a similar mould to the Gerrard’s and the Lampard’s of this world.

Anyway lets see what Marty does, I won’t doubt him. Keep up the good work…

But……………… please sign another flanker and never drop Huddlestone. ;)

beckenbauer.jpgMartin Jol says Tommy Huddlestone reminds him of World Cup legend Franz Beckenbauer.

He said: “Tom has played in defence but he’s a typical midfield player,”

“At the back he would be a sort of Franz Beckenbauer.

“As a sweeper he would be the best player in the world - but who plays with a sweeper nowadays?

“Tom is 19, he’s big. It can be an advantage, it can be a disadvantage but the boy is great.

“I would almost say that I have never seen a player like him, when he’s got the ball. Now we have to work on his game when he hasn’t got the ball”

Norwich City manager Nigel Worthington has had his loan bid for Tottenham starlet Tom Huddlestone rejected.

Worthington said:  “He is a player I much admire and if there is a loan situation it is certainly something I would explore, “

“But it’s not on at this moment in time. But I’ll keep ringing - Mr Jol will have a sore ear by the time I’ve finished. “
